International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament in Tampa
If you haven’t seen “Murderball” played yet, now’s your chance to watch Level 1 International teams play this hard-knocking yet high-strategy sport. Drop by the Tampa International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament going on all weekend at the All Peoples Life Center. Here’s the schedule. Root for your home team, The Tampa Generals, and say “Hi” to my husband Tres, the referee (seen in background of photo, at left).
If you’re lucky, you might catch Briona Keeshan in action (photo, right).
Briona Keeshan is the lone female member of the Tampa Generals, a competitive wheelchair rugby team. Though a young player in the male-dominated sport, Keeshan is proud to be considered a role model for other women with disabilities interested in participating in a team sport.
