The first draft of the Ruskin Guidelines code amendment is totally useless. We need to send in LOTS of citizen comments (see sample email below) insisting that the county revise the draft amendment so that the Community Plan’s Guidelines can be enforced as the community intended.
Citizen attendance is critical at the meetings while they are codifying the Guidelines, to make sure that Ruskin’s Guidelines don’t lose any teeth in the process.
Thanks to all who sent in emails and spoke with commissioners, the Ruskin Community Plan is headed for firmer ground, AND our county commissioners received a strong message from people all over the county that we expect them to follow ALL our Community Plans.
Please send an email to protect Community Plans — sample email makes it easy! If one developer can gut the Ruskin Community Plan this way, it will start a feeding frenzy of developers finding “loopholes” in ALL community plans.
